Comment on Hanukkah arrives during the darkest days of Kislev, adding joy and warmth to the season by Five Hanukkah Traditions and How They Came to Be - The Keystone Courier https://www.unitedhebrewth.org/hanukkah-arrives-during-the-darkest-days-of-kislev-adding-joy-and-warmth-to-the-season/#comment-775 Fri, 27 Dec 2024 02:18:28 +0000 https://www.unitedhebrewth.org/?p=20488#comment-775 […] The first night of Hanukkah is different every year, marking its start on Christmas Day for the first time in 19 years, and before that, the first time in 46 years. Hanukkah always begins on the 25th Day of Kislev, according to the Jewish calendar. The Talmudic sage Rabbi Chanina recounts the process of building the Mishkan – a portable temporary tabernacle that was used as a central temple of the Jewish faith before the great temple was constructed in Jerusalem. The work of the Mishkan was finished on the 25th Day of Kislev, thus marking historically the first night of Hanukkah. This is why Hanukkah falls on a different day every year, because the 25th Day of Kislev is not a direct translation from the Roman calendar.  […]

I am so impressed with his thoughts and consideration for people to get along. I was looking at this article because his late wife, Allane matched me as 2nd to 3rd cousin on Ancestry. I have researched family history for many years and have been able to figure out most 2nd to 3rd cousin matches. I hope to find their children who might be able to help.

Thank you for reading and sharing your memories of Dr. Justin, Yveline!

Come visit us if you’re ever back in Terre Haute. As much as we appreciate our own nearby Paris, Illinois, it does lack that European flair.

I met them in 1973 in Terre Haute when I was admitted on a Fulbright Hays scholarship at ISU coming from France 50 years ago!

We exchanged many visits and had long talks together. I would be happy to get in touch with her daughter and granddaughter and share reading materials on trauma that could help the Jewish community.

It includes videos by Dr Gabor Mate and research in psychohistory: http://www.regardconscient.net, along with readings by Alice Miller (http://www.alice-miller.com) and other research done by Olivier Maurel on genocide and the history of violence (http://www.oveo.org).

Do not hesitate to contact me if interested. I live near Paris in France, not Illinois!

She helped me and my brothers when we attended at Indiana State University. Every Friday night invited us for dinner at their home then we all go to the synagogue.

G-D bless her soul also G-d bless her husband Werner’s soul.

I hope her children Miriam, Ruth or Paul could someday contact me. I missed them all very much.
