The three ladies we are remembering this month…

Marian Gold Abels… She was married to the late Sam Abels and the mother of the late Shirley Abels Wormser and Larry Abels. Marian (at center in featured image) was a rather quiet lady but always had a sweet smile for everyone. She was a homemaker, family caregiver and especially loved taking care of her grandchildren and the family pets. She had a passion for reading and going to the library book sales. Marian was active in Sisterhood has well.

Fannie Bertha Wolff Ellinger… She was married to the late Max Ellinger and to this union came one son, Gerald. She was also the sister of the late Carolyn Wolff Thomas Gurman. She was a Wiley High School and ISU graduate and was a school teacher. She taught at three Indiana schools as well as a school in Lincoln, Neb. She loved attending Sisterhood meetings with her sister Carolyn and many friends. She was such a kind lady.

Rose Simon Goodman… She was the wife of the late Melvin Goodman. Their son, Judge Evan Goodman and his wife Lynda, live in Indianapolis and their daughter Marcia Goodman Schneider lives in Glencoe, Ill. Her sister Beatzy Becker now lives in Illinois as well. Rose was many things in the community but the banana split cake she made was out of this world and to this day that recipe is enjoyed by many. It was also noted in our Sisterhood calendar recipe edition. She was active in Sisterhood, United Hebrew Congregation, National Council of Jewish Women, Hadassah and Gamma Phi Beta. Also, Rose never forgot a birthday with special wishes.
