Torah Study for Saturday, May 21, 2021

Student Rabbi Caitlin Brazner will conduct a virtual Torah study at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2021, for United Hebrew Congregation.

This week’s Torah portion is Parashat Nasso.

Caitlin writes: “Numbers 4:21-7:89 focuses heavily on the ritual purity of the Israelite community.

“From discussions of priestly duties and blessings to adultery and the Nazirite vow, Naso is a compelling (and sometimes challenging!) portion that invites us to consider, ‘How do we create or maintain “purity” today?’

“In our study we will focus on Chazal, rabbinic literature (particularly Talmud Sotah and Taanit), as well as more modern commentaries, as we seek to better understand the practices and mitzvot of Parashat Naso.”
