United Hebrew Congregation Terre Haute has scheduled a busy series of events, including Shabbat services, Torah studies and the return of a popular Veterans Day program, for October-November 2017.
In addition, UHC has won a capital improvement grant from Sacred Places Indiana!
United Hebrew Congregation Terre Haute Sunday school students draped a bare sukkah (raised by volunteers a week earlier) with beads, boughs and drawings last weekend, shook the lulav and etrog and settled into the structure to enjoy holiday snacks.

We have not had a new book since 2014-15, so we’re going to publish a new one this year and we want to make sure we have everyone’s correct address and phone number, because we don’t want to leave anyone out.
During Sukkot there is a tradition of welcoming guests or strangers into our sukkah. The tradition comes from the story in Genesis wherein Abraham welcomes guests he doesn’t know.
In our partisan world, what does it mean to welcome the stranger? Welcoming the stranger can mean a radical action such as housing a refugee or a more common action such as welcoming a visitor to our synagogue.
