United Hebrew Congregation Terre Haute returns to sanctuary for Rosh Hashanah 5778

United Hebrew Congregation members and guests gathered in the glow of an unseasonably warm evening Wednesday, Sept. 20, to celebrate Erev Rosh Hashanah 5778 at Temple Israel.

Student Rabbi Kylynn Perdue-Bronson marked her first High Holy Days officiating “for grownups”, proceeding neatly and efficiently through the service, which marked the congregation’s seasonal return to the upstairs sanctuary.

Student Rabbi Kylynn conducts first service as UHC prepares for High Holy Days

United Hebrew Congregation Terre Haute recently welcomed Student Rabbi Kylynn Perdue-Bronson with a Shabbat dinner to celebrate her first service at Temple Israel.

Rabbi Kylynn will serve UHC Terre Haute throughout the 2017-18 academic year. She will officiate Erev Rosh Hashanah services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, and lead the congregation throughout the High Holy Days.

Yana Weinstein will serve as guest soloist for High Holy Days; board expands Torah studies

The Temple board has arranged for Ms. Yana Weinstein to serve as UHC soloist for Erev Rosh Hashanah and Kol Nidre. Ms. Weinstein teaches at Indiana State University and lives in Bloomington.

Torah Study will begin with Student Rabbi Kylynn on Saturday, October 21. Kylynn and the board met in August and discussed expanding the popular Saturday Torah studies to include a second class.
