I was told on more than one occasion growing up that Tu B’Shevat was “the Jewish Earth Day” and “a Jewish Hippie Holiday.” I was therefore surprised to learn years later that Tu B’Shevat actually had some of its roots in war.

Jackie and Steve Silver celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, and Student Rabbi Aaron Rozovsky marked the occasion by calling the Silvers to to the bemah to participate in a special Torah reading during Friday Shabbat services.
‘Jewish Stances on Immigration’ highlights upcoming Torah study topics
Student Rabbi Aaron Rozovsky has announced discussion topics for upcoming Torah study sessions at Temple Israel and Westminster Village. Subjects at three sessions on Feb. 11 and Feb. 18 will include the timely “Jewish Stances on Immigration”; Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish New Year for Trees; and Parshah Yitro.
