After an exceptionally long, drawn out, brutal and divisive election cycle, I am sadly reminded that throughout history there have been numerous examples in which the Jewish people have become so disconnected and so disrespectful toward one another that it led to division and even bloody conflict.

This is the season of gift-giving. Hanukkah will be upon us before we know it. And, if you have Christian relatives, Christmas gifts might be exchanged as well. Material gifts, however, are primarily temporary. Toys get outgrown or broken and clothing wears out. Even larger gifts, such as electronics, break and must be recycled.
Temple Israel highlights Farrington’s Grove Holiday Home Tour
United Hebrew Congregation Terre Haute is preparing for guests this weekend, as Temple Israel makes its debut on the Farrington’s Grove Holiday Tour, 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. The bi-annual tour marks the 40th anniversary of Farrington’s Grove Historical District, founded in 1976 under the sponsorship of the Terre Haute Redevelopment Department to promote preservation and improvement of the neighborhood’s historic homes.
