The three ladies we remember this month are Beulah “Terry” Brodie, Deloris Fishman and Alice Levine Yalowitz. Terry was born in Galveston, Texas, to Fred and Ann Ruth Bergman. Terry was a 59-year member of United Hebrew Congregation and its Sisterhood…. Deloris was born in Farmersburg to Fred and Gertrude (Railsback) Hammack…. Alice was born in Joliet, Illinois, and preceded by her husband Harold.
Donations will help Light House Mission and Conner’s Center residents stay warm this winter
I am so proud of all the contributions everyone brought in for Light House Mission/Conner’s Center. The December Sisterhood meeting was canceled due to inclement weather, but Rev. Tim Fagg, Rev. Timothy Long and their assistant came to collect the donated items and were very impressed with the four large totes we filled for them. Sisterhood sent a generous check as well.
Each month marks a renewal, for the calendar and for us
We don’t have to look any further than the fact the beginning of each new Hebrew month, ראש חודש (Rosh Chodesh), is greeted with psalms of praise and rejoicing known as Hallel, as well as special Torah and Haftarah readings. In other words, each new month marks a new time, a rebirth and a renewal in our lives.
Our congregation is engaged — to the community
One of our goals as a Board this past year has been to reach out and become engaged with our surrounding community. We were making a conscious effort to friend-make (a term we learned in our Sacred Places Indiana training). Well, the results of our efforts have been outstanding!
