Sisterhood plans March 15 lunch outing; collects new clothes and bedding for foster children

By Patty Lewis

As the weather slowly begins to warm up, Sisterhood is picking up momentum with new activities this spring.

We’ll meet for lunch at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Delish Cafe, 8775 Wabash Ave. in Terre Haute. Members will share some good food and discuss activities and projects for 2022.

Let me know if you plan to attend so I can make reservations! Call Norma at (812) 232-5988, send a Facebook message or use our contact form.

During December, we met at my home and welcomed our newest member, Sandy.

Also in late 2021, Sisterhood delivered adult coloring books and coloring pens to Meadows Manor to support recreation activities for the senior residents. We hope to assist at least one more nursing home.

Vigo County CASA supports kids in juvenile court system

But at the moment, we’re focusing on one important project through March 31.

Vigo County CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) “speaks for the best interest of abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system.”

Wilma, who has worked with CASA as a community volunteer, suggested a great project for Sisterhood, collecting essential items for the foster children.

Those items (new and in original packaging, please) include: diapers and diaper wipes; pull-ups; socks; underwear; twin-size sheets, pillow cases, pillows, mattress protectors and comforter sets.

Drop your donations off at the Temple from 8-noon weekdays or when attending Shabbat services on Friday evenings. We have a table set up in the Vestry Room.

If you would rather donate money, Wilma and I will do the shopping for you. Thanks for your contributions!

Sisterhood will continue to support the religious school, the Temple kitchen, and the wider community.

I would like to Sisterhood continue its good work, with new ideas from you.

Check out some Star of David jewelry

When I visited my son in South Padre Island, Texas, I met Rachel Panzer, who makes one-of-a-kind Star of David jewelry, along with other original designs.
