Some 100 visit as Stained Glass Sunday Afternoon proves a big success

The first Stained Glass Sunday Afternoon in 13 years drew about 100 people, says Community Preservation Specialist Chris Usler.

Even more encouraging, those visitors came motivated to listen and learn. “I was pleasantly surprised not only that we got the turnout we did but the people who did attend were really interested,” says Usler, based at the Western Regional Office in Terre Haute. “They spent a lot of time trying to learn and understand.”

Crowd turns out for Shabbat service and oneg presented by 2016 B’nai Mitzvah class

United Hebrew Congregation conducts services every Friday, with Temple members officiating most evenings when a student rabbi is not present.

On May 12, five ladies who comprised the Temple’s 2016 B’nai Mitzvah class took that role, as Karen Harris, Debra Israel, Patty Lewis, Wilma Turetzky and Sara Wormser-Waltermire delivered service, Torah portion and sermon, as well as an expansive oneg Shabbat.
